The Distribution Committee of the International Gas Union (IGU) met this week in Nantes, France, for the last time before it presents its research findings at the World Gas Conference in Beijing in June. GRDF hosted the meeting, which included project updates and final plans for the conference, and a visit to the GRDF Formation training centre (one of three campuses), where the group learned about the impressive record of training in gases since 1967 in distribution, transmission and appliances - for natural gas, biomethane and, most recently, hydrogen.
Ready4H2 Steering Committee Chairman, Thomas Muller, GRDF Director of Hydrogen, guided the group through the centre’s facilities. Formation delivers over 1,000 courses per year and uses learning-by doing, interactive and tactile training methods. Students have been coming from all over the world, as far as China, and Formation has assisted establish similar training centres in several other countries.
Barbara Jinks, Director of the Ready4H2 project is a committee member and attended the meeting. She presented an overview of the results of Ready4H2’s recent research to the group that included representatives of distribution grid operators from France, Japan, Portugal, Poland, Eire, USA, Germany, Turkey and Brazil.
